BUDDY RICH ALL STAR BAND GOING TO BLUE NOTE TOKYO

Cathy Rich, daughter of drumming icon Buddy Rich announced last week that the Buddy Rich All Star Band will be traveling to Tokyo on June 24 through the 28th to play 8 shows at the legendary Blue Note club. "This will be the first time since 1978 that my father's band will play in Tokyo" said Rich. "My father loved playing in Japan and going there with an all star band comprised of some of the greatest musicians alive makes it extra special".

Buddy Rich Band touring drummer and Emmy Award winner Gregg Potter will again front the band as he did in England at the 2012 Buddy Rich Memorial Concert at the London Palladium. The band is comprised of Buddy's grandson, Nick Rich, the original drummer of Escape the Fate, Falling in Reverse, and his current band NEFU, as well as Buddy Rich Band alumni trumpet greats Chuck Findley, and Eric Miyashiro, Trombonist Alan Kaplan, and Bass superstar Tony Levin. Cathy Rich will also sing and host the evening.

World-renowned, hard rock /heavy metal drumming superstar Jimmy DeGrasso (Black Star Riders/Alice Cooper/Ozzy Osbourne/Megadeth/Suicidal Tendencies) will host Jimmy DeGrasso’s “Hard Rock & Everything Else” Drum Camp May 3rd – 5th in Oxnard, California at the world famous Drum Channel Studios and the Courtyard Marriot in nearby Camarillo, California. Presented by MUSO Entertainment, Jimmy DeGrasso’s “Hard Rock & Everything Else” Drum Camp will offer a limited number of students a total of 24 hours of hands-on, intensive playing alongside one of rock’s most prolific players.

Jimmy DeGrasso’s “Hard Rock & Everything Else” Drum Camp offers three, eight-hour days of hands-on drumming in a small-scale classroom setting focusing on rock drumming styles, playing with a click track, double bass techniques, rudiments, linear phrases as well as Jazz/Latin styles. In addition, you will get incredible insight into the dynamics of being in a band, surviving life on the road and Jimmy will demonstrate, teach, and share experiences from decades of drumming with some of the biggest bands and artists in the world.

ROBERT "RZ" ZILDJIAN (1923-2013)

It is with deep, deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert "RZ" Zildjian, our beloved founder and leader. A tireless and dynamic force within the drum industry, he inspired each one of us in the Sabian family to work harder, to reach farther, to make a difference - and he led us by example.

His professional story is well known. Having been dealt a major career setback at an age where most men would have opted for retirement, RZ instead chose to re-invent the cymbal business with his own hand-crafted brand, a brand that would forever change the face and sound of popular music. With his bare hands he shaped the Sabian cymbal brand into his life's story - and by extension we became his family.

We mourn his passing, and he will be forever in our hearts. But we are better people for having known RZ, and we are richer for having worked alongside him. We draw comfort from the knowledge that his spirit will live on in the music made by drummers the world over.

Rest in peace, RZ.
